Members are encouraged to place the bulletins into their bulletin folder provide by the MFMA on becoming a member. Feedback indicates that the Bulletin folder is quickly becoming a valuable reference tool. A summary of the bulletins to date is provided. MFMA Bulletins Volume 1, Issue 1 What does the GST mean for the fish wholesaler / retailer. This bulletin explores how the GST if introduced would specifically effect our members businesses. Includes industry based examples that help to take away much of the mystery. Volume 1, Issue 2 Cross Contamination - This bulletin provides members and associate members with a practical approach to reducing the risk of food borne illness resulting from cross contamination. Volume 1, Issue 3 Summarizes merchandise available from the MFMA and describes MFMA marketing initiatives for 1999. Volume 1, Issue 4 Histamine (scombroid) poisoning - What is scombroid poisoning?, which species of fish are vulnerable? What steps can be taken to reduce the risk of scombroid poisoning and what is the responsibility of the buyer if they are to show 'due diligence'. Volume 1, Issue 5 A bulletin designed to make members aware of a legal trap where members may inadvertently break the NSW State law by purchasing fish from interstate or commonwealth waters that are below the minimum legal size limit for that species in NSW. Includes a MFMA letter written to each State and Territory Minister making them aware of the inconsistent legal size limits that exist for species between State and Territories. Volume 1, Issue 6 Developed in consultation with the NSW Shellfish Quality Assurance Program, NSW Oyster Farmers Association and NSW Fisheries, this bulletins explains the buyers legal requirement to show 'due diligence'when purchasing oysters or pipis.
